InterPlay: A PanQueer Intimacy festival in Portland!

Have you caught any thunderstorms? Fireflies? Northern lights? If your late summer days were a flavor of ice cream, what do they currently taste like?

The oak trees are slowly changing. Nights are cooling. I can picture a day where I'll wear some flannel, sit near a river, and read a book. What can you picture in a month from now?

Letting Go of Perfection and Giving Birth

My body lunged forward when I heard the words "PanQueer Intimacy Festival" back in December. In the dead of winter, I felt flooded with queerness, connection and celebration. I began volunteering my time and love to helping birth this almost impossible endeavor: to bridge the many pockets of queerness through connection and intimacy. Weaving the often contrasting subcultures together for a gay ol' time.

If I could start it all again, I have a million ideas for improvement. To explicitly make a seat at the table for the quagmire of bridging work. To discuss expectations early on. To learn how we each manage burnout, and what supports us when we're toast. To name the roles that typically get left to afabs, and gameplan around this. To create at least one retreat for ourselves, stepping away from logistics to drop in deep with each other and bond.

Alas... the contractions are getting closer and closer together now... this baby is coming into form... I can see many gaps and just have to trust... as long as the container is set... as long as there are many hands ready to catch... we can give this process one final push ~

Oh the joys, growth edges and surprises of collaborative work! We're 9 days away from birthing this babe called InterPlay ~ what will all this sweat and juice create?

This is a first of its kind in Portland, bridging as many of the LGBTQIA2S+ communities as possible to explore themes of intimacy, belonging, eroticism, embodiment. The workshop lineup is off the hook!! Erotic Blueprint pleasure mapping, Tabooboo play meditation, a song circle on queer grief and joy, many different types of dancing and yoga, communal erotic practices, queer ancestry ritual, grief sanctuary, kinky karaoke, an ecstatic dance, and so much more. The venue is multifaceted with space for high energy, low energy, connection of all types (as well as low-stim internal space).
